I know why you’re here.
And yes, I’m actually just as impressed as you are!
Not only is this a CHURRO in BOWL FORM, it’s also Red Velvet and that is ridiculous!
This is my variation off a Churro recipe I found.
Red Velvet Churro Dough
– 1 cup water
– 2 1/2 tbsp white sugar
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 2 tbsp vegetable oil
– 3/4 cup + 2 tbsp flour
– 1/4 cocoa powder
– red food dye
Combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Once it begins to boil, remove it from the heat and add the flour, cocoa powder, and red dye. Mix until a dough is formed. NOW the fun begins!
Take a cupcake tin, flip it over and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
Put your dough in a piping bag (or ziploc bag if that’s what you have to work with – just snip off one of the bottom corners!) and in a circular motion, starting at the base, pipe out the dough making your way around the cupcake mold. Keep going until you completely cover the mold.
Once you’re out of dough place the cupcake tin in the freezer for 15 mins.
In the meantime start heating frying oil in a saucepan.
Take the cupcake tin from the freezer, remove the bowls, and begin frying until golden all over (this required some flipping for me).
Transfer the bowl onto a paper towel to drain a bit before you roll and completely cover it in a (1/2 cup) sugar and (1 tsp) cinnamon mixture.
There you go! Your bowl is ready to be filled and eaten!
